Book Review : Dark Places by Gillian Flynn
Besides fashion, style, celebrities and all that stuff, I also love to read books. I have become some sort of book geek lately and you'll always find me reading a book; when I finish one and don't know what to read next, I freak out...I know, that's weird, but it happens! Book nerds, are you with me on this one?.
If you don't have the habit to read books, that's because you still haven't found a genre that you love. For me it's fiction: Young adult or YA books ( Thanks Mely for teaching me that ), novels, mystery, romantic novels, history fiction. Oh, and aparently I also like New Adults or NA books? which is like the next phase for the Young adult books.. ( Tks again Mely for that one too! ) yeah, she's like my book mentor :P
So...This time I bring you a review of the last book I read: it's called DARK PLACES, written by Gillian Flynn. She's the one who wrote Gone Girl and was turned into a movie starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike...yes, it's the movie where Ben Affleck was naked and everyone was talking about that, thanks Gone Girl.
Back to Dark Places, this is what it's about:

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in “The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas.” As her family lay dying, little Libby fled their tiny farmhouse into the freezing January snow. The book is really good, it will keep you guessing, intrigued, trying to figure out who is the killer of the Day family. The end is shocking, full of sick/demonic stuff. But you also find out how all these elements from a disfunctional family came altogether to bring all this horrible circumstances to the Day's.
Here are 6 things you should know about DARK PLACES:
1. The book keeps you intrigued, which makes it a page-turner. Meaning, you will find yourself saying '' I'll just read one more chapter ''.
2. The characters are really messed up. Hopeless, self-steem gone, just living to survive. Libby and Ben have nothing left to live for. However, Libby finds deep inside herself that she still wants to know what happened that night.
3. The book is written in flashback. Meaning that in one chapter you will read about Libby's search in the present, and in the next one you might be reading about Ben's past prior to the murders.
4. Bad decisions will lead you to bad results...You will find out that almost at the end of the book.
5. In the end you WILL be shocked. I think the level of sickness is worst than GONE GIRL.
6. The book was published in 2009 and it will be turned into a movie that will be coming out in 2015 starring Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz & Nicholas Hoult.

Además de moda, estilo, celebrities y todas esas cosas, también me encanta leer libros. Últimamente me he convertido en una book geek y siempre me van a ver leyendo algún libro; cuando termino uno y no sé qué leer después, me da stress...yo sé, es muy raro esto, pero pasa!
Si no tienen el hábito de leer, es porque no han encontrado un género que les guste. En mi caso, mis géneros favoritos son: Yound Adult o YA books que son como libros bastante light y de gente joven ( Gracias Mely por enseñarme ese término ), novelas, misterio, novelas románticas, ficción pero basada en historia. Ah, y aparentemente también me gustan los libro New Adults o NA books? que es como la siguiente etapa de los Young Adult ( Gracias Mely otra vez por enseñarme eso también! ), Si..ella es como mi mentora de libros :)
Así es que esta vez les traigo un review del último libro que leí: se llama DARK PLACES, escrito por Gillian Flynn. Ella es la que escribió Gone Girl la cual hicieron película siendo Ben Affleck y Rosamund Pike los protagonistas...si, es la película donde Ben Affleck sale desnudo y todo el mundo pasó hablando sobre eso, gracias Gone Girl.
De regreso a Dark Places, trataré de traducir lo mejor posible esta sipnosis que tomé del website de la autora:

Libby Day tenía siete años cuando su mamá y dos hermanas fueron asesinadas en '' El Sacrificio Satánico de Kinnakee, Kansas''. Mientras su familia moría, la pequeña Libby huyó de su granja hacia la nieve de Enero. Ella perdió algunos de sus dedos, pero sobrevivió y testificó que su hermano de 15 años, Ben, había sido el asesino. La búsqueda de más información lleva a Libby desde los peores strip clubs de Missouri hasta una ciudad turística abandonada en Oklahoma, la narrativa retrocede hacia los hechos de Enero 2, 1985. Los eventos de ese día son revelados a través de los miembros de su familia, incluyendo a Ben, un joven solitario que estaba enojado con su padre y también con la granja de la familia que iba de mal en peor, lo cual lo llevó a una amistad perturbadora con la nueva niña del pueblo. Poco a poco, la verdad inimaginable va surgiendo y Libby se ve de regreso donde todo empezó, huyendo de un asesino.

Aquí les dejo 6 cosas que deberían de saber sobre DARK PLACES:
1. El libro lo mantiene a uno intrigado, se van a encontrar diciendo ´´ Solo un capítulo más ´´.
2. Los personajes están trastornados. Sin esperanza, cero auto-estima, viviendo para sobrevivir solamente. Libby y Ben no tienen nada por qué vivir. Sin embargo, Libby encontra dentro de sí que en realidad quiere saber qué fue lo que pasó esa noche.
3. El libro está escrito en flashback. Osea que en un capítulo van a leer sobre la búsqueda de Libby en el presente, y en el siguiente podrían estar leyendo sobre el pasado de Ben previo a los asesinatos.
4. Malas deciciones los llevarán a malos resultados...Se van a enterar de esto casi al final del libro.
5. Al final van a estar sorprendidos. Pienso que el nivel enfermizo de este libro es peor que el de GONE GIRL.
6. El libro fue publicado en el 2009 y va a convertirse en película que saldrá para el 2015 con Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz & Nicholas Hoult.
